Abbey staff donate 5,000 hours to charities

Howard Lake | 19 October 2009 | News

Staff from Abbey, Bradford & Bingley and Alliance and Leicester have given 5,000 hours of their time to helping charities and voluntary organisations across the UK during 2009.

Over 700 staff volunteered their time through the ‘Community Days’ programme, taking part in activities such as teaching in schools, hosting tea parties for the elderly, and supporting regeneration and conservation projects.

Sheralee Morris, Abbey Community Relations Manager said: “The response to the Community Days programme has been fantastic. So many employees have been involved with projects to support their communities this year. We have received some great feedback from the charities we’ve worked with and it has been a fabulous opportunity for our staff to try something different.”
