UK Fundraising is running two Gift Aid training sessions starting next month, featuring Gift Aid expert Barry Gower of GAIN (Gift Aid Income Now).

The first is a full day course on 2 October offering both an introduction to Gift Aid and, in the afternoon, advice and ideas on extending Gift Aid to other areas of fundraising not usually considered, such as raffles, auctions, membership, and home collecting boxes.

The event takes place at RNID’s offices in central London and costs £100 + VAT for charities and voluntary organisations.

The second event is a half-day introduction to Gift Aid, to be held on 2 November in London at the King’s Cross Hub and costing £90 + VAT for charities and voluntary organisations.

It is designed especially for those people who are new to fundraising or who are volunteers who have heard about Gift Aid but do not really know what it is about.

Barry Gower said: “With NCVO and CAF’s Giving 2008 report yesterday confirming that only four in ten charitable donations are made using Gift Aid, there is still a desperate need for charities to make a more effective effort to obtain this valuable missed income.

“Given next year’s reduction in the period that charities can claim Gift Aid retrospectively, now is the time to make sure your charity is doing all it can to secure this additional income.”
