Nutrition and health company Nestlé is offering to award up to 500,000 Swiss Frances (about £300,000) to support an innovative development project.

The Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value is open to individuals, NGOs or businesses.

The successful idea or project will improve water access and management, improve the lives of farmers and rural communities, and deliver high nutritional value to populations with nutritional deficits.

Nestlé say that their prize is different because it offers “a financial commitment that may continue for several years to ensure success”.

You can apply or nominate another organisation or person.

The closing date for applications is 31 October 2009 and the winner will be announced in early 2010.
