Further improvements to the Charity Commission online register

A recent (free) Charity News Alert newsletter from Plaza Publishing (www.plazapublishing.co.uk) reported that the Charity Commission has outlined further improvements to its online register. The Commission has agreed to consider allowing charities with income below £500,000 to have the option of completing part B of the annual return and therefore having a full register display. Other plans include further improvements to the search facility, options for comparing charities, and an improved range and presentation of data. Apparently the Charity Commission is to evaluate the introduction of an alert subscription service to notify users when chosen charities’ annual returns or accounts are received.

It would be nice to be able to search by trustee/settler/patron, etc. While the register often (but not always) shows other charities that a trustee is involved with, you can also get your favourite search engine to look for names for you. See my blog from the end of 2008.

All the best
