The Herbert and Peter Blagrave Charitable Trust
Last weekend, The Sunday Times published an article about the falling prices of expensive country homes. Mention of the Linkenholt Estate being put up for sale at £23 – £25 million caught my eye. However, an advertisement later in the ‘paper showed that it was being sod by a charitable trust. The Herbert and Peter Blagrave Charitable Trust was established by Herbert and Peter Blagrave in 1978.
The estate brings in approximately £350,000 annually in rent for the Trust. However, the asking price is greater than the value of the assets listed in the latest accounts on the Charity Commission website, so it should free up quite a bit of money for future grants. There is a preference for Wiltshire, Hampshire and Berkshire. Are you interested?
It will also be interesting to see who buys the estate. Hopefully it will be a wealthy person, ideally someone who is not yet known to many fundraisers
