Michelmores adopts Hospiscare as Charity of the Year.
Organizers of one of Exeter’s landmark summer events have announced they have adopted Hospiscare as their chosen charity for 2009.
Michelmores LLP has confirmed that their Charity Run which takes place around Exeter City Centre in June, will be the centrepiece in a year long programme of events that the law firm will be supporting on behalf of the Exeter based charity.
First held in 2000, the Michelmores Charity Run has now raised over £150,000 for local charities and attracts sponsorship from a wide range of local businesses.
Event founder and organizer Cameron Caverhill said: “From the outset, we chose to support good causes with the main beneficiaries remaining as the event’s charity for up to three years.
“We are delighted to announce that we will now be working with Hospiscare on our road race as well as a number of other events during the year.
“The event has grown over the last 10 years and we have continually developed and refined it to improve the experience for the runners and to raise more money each year.”
Alison Palfrey, Director of Fundraising at Hospiscare, said:” This is brilliant news for Hospiscare and we are extremely grateful to Michelmores for choosing us this year. We are a local charity and the money raised by this event will help us to provide care and support for local people with terminal illness and their families and carers.”
Anyone taking part in the race can sign up easily by registering with Just Giving at www.justgiving.com/hospiscare and following the instructions.
Cameron Caverhill added: “This year’s event, which takes place on Tuesday 2 June, will have 1200 runners and we are introducing new prizes for the individual and the team raising the most money. We already have a significant amount committed from loyal business sponsors but would like more so we are keen to hear from any one interested in getting involved.”
Further information on sponsorship is available by contacting Sarah Coleman by Friday 13 February at Michelmores on 01392 688688 or by mailing sz*@mi*********.com.
