Well, 2009 is here at last – Happy New Year!!

…and already I’ve had to start on decorating projects!! Managed to get through the run up to Christmas without having to do any so mustn’t grumble!!
But is decorating a sign of something else?
New year, new start perhaps?
So how many charities are starting the new year with new projects?
How are you viewing the ‘recession’ – have you managed to forget it over the festive season and will have a sharp awakening next week?
I have misgivings about the whole thing…
Apart from the headlines about shops closing and suchlike there really has not been much sign of a recession.
I visited the new shopping centre in Shepherds Bush the other day – Westfield – and it was certainly very busy with lots of queues of people buying things!! Expensive things at that!!
Those businesses in the news that have closed down recently are, largely, businesses that have been bought out of administration previously having lost the pulse of their clients, or businesses that have been known to be struggling for a few years anyway.
No surprises there!
So I guess the lesson is to put the past behind and to face 2009 positively.
Set targets higher so that even if you do not manage to meet them you will certainly achieve more than expected.
And my key message for 2009 is COLLABORATION.
Collaboration will be the way we all get through this challenging time. Working together, supporting one another, helping one another, devising new concepts, and working to strengths.
There is light at the end of the tunnel but it will require collaboration to reach it.
Happy Collaborative New Year!!
