Charlotte Harris joins Justgiving in the newly created role of Head of Client Services

Charlotte Harris

For four years, Charlotte was Commercial Director at Whitewater, where she managed the start-up and ongoing strategic direction of their specialist tribute giving division, Our Lasting Tribute.
In that post, she worked with over 50 charities in the UK and another 20 in North America and Australia. Since leaving Whitewater, she’s worked for three years as a consultant with charities and third-party suppliers to the third sector.
Most recently, she carried out a large piece of quantitative and qualitative research for Justgiving on a consultancy basis to help the company understand the issues facing charities and how Justgiving can better serve them.
“I’ve worked with Justgiving in lots of different ways over the past seven years – as a charity client, as a partner supplier and more recently as a consultant – so the opportunity to take on a more formal role was too tempting to miss,” said Charlotte of her appointment.
“A strong theme in the charity research I did for Justgiving recently was that it’s seen as a brand of integrity and an expert in the field – which is backed up by the fact that almost 7 million donors trust Justgiving. That confidence in the product and the social enterprise values of the company were really attractive to me.
“There are of course a number of things on the immediate to-do list, but one thing that’s high up there is sharing our expertise more effectively. For example, Justgiving has arguably the single biggest repository of donor transactional information in the UK. I want to find a way to translate that data into useful intelligence to help our charities ramp up their online fundraising.”
Anne-Marie Huby, Justgiving’s Managing Director, commented, “Charlotte combines deep experience of charity fundraising in both the UK and the US with real passion and enthusiasm for the digital world. As a technology focused company, we are really excited about her bringing that rich experience to Justgiving. It is a crucial time for us, as we embark on a complete overhaul of our platform, and Charlotte will play a key role in making the new generation of our service the best of its kind for charities.”

Editor’s notes:
• In seven years, over 6.3 million people have helped raised more than £350 million for 5,800 charities using Justgiving’s award-winning site http://www.justgiving.com
• Justgiving is trusted by donors to safely, efficiently and transparently raise money for the causes they’re passionate about
• It is also the no-risk, easy way for charities to make the most of online fundraising
• One-to-one help is available to every charity and every donor
• Justgiving believes in giving all charities the same opportunity to raise huge amounts of money, including the smaller ones who can’t afford to spend lots of money on technology, freeing them up to concentrate on what’s important – whether it’s medical research or running the local playgroup.
• Justgiving operate on a social enterprise basis. It took the company five years to break even and to date, all profits have been reinvested to make the product work harder for charities. Investors have yet to receive any dividend or return.
