Peter Hewitt, former Chief Executive of the Arts Council, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity, the UK’s largest NHS related charity. He will take up the post in June 2009 following the retirement of Geoffrey Shepherd.
During his time at the Arts Council, Hewitt led a £1 billion lottery funded arts capital programme and worked in partnership with the public and private sectors to significantly enhance the profile of arts in England.
He was awarded a CBE for his achievements in bringing the arts to a wider audience in the 2008 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
