Boxer Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton has become a patron of the Five Stars Scanner Appeal which aims to raise £1 million for an MRI scanner for Manchester children’s hospital which is due to open next year.
Light welterweight champion Hatton joins other patrons Chris Bisson, Ryan Giggs, Richard O’Brien, Max Beesley and Samia Smith.
Community fundraiser Krissy Edge said: “Ricky is a local lad so the Appeal really struck a chord with him. He is an international superstar and this reputation can only help raise awareness of our campaign.”
One of his first activities for the appeal will be to join Ryan Giggs at his Old Trafford sportsman’s dinner on September 23.
