Third sector publishers Fflan Ltd have published “Social Enterprise: What it is and why it Matters” by Dr Martin Price, a consultant to third sector organisation in Wales.
The book grew out of a series of workshops given to general business advisers to raise their awareness of social enterprise. It is designed to demystify social enterprise and provide a clear explanation of what it is and what it is not, both for those who are aware of the third sector and the general reader.
Dr Price, who has worked with a large number of successful social enterprises, argues that social enterprise matters “because it represents an alternative way of looking at how business works, how it impacts on society and how social ends can be delivered differently from the traditional philanthropic charity model”.
Steve Gamgee, Chief Executive of homeless charity The Wallich, said of the book: “Very clearly written and informative. I’ve now passed it on to my Finance Manager”.
The book cost £9.99 (postage free) from Fflan Ltd or from Amazon.co.uk:
