National Recycling Awards finalists announced

The short list for the National Recycling Awards 2005 has been announced, and features community groups, local authorities from across the country, high street companies, manufacturers of recycled product and providers of recycling services.

the National Recycling Awards are designed to recognise innovation and excellence in recycling on a national scale over the previous 18 months. They are open to any organisation, community group or company that is affected by recycling, plays an active part in the recycling process or is involved in the production chain of recycled products.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Sheffield on 25 October 2005.

Finalists include:

Best Retail Recycling Initiative award:
– Closed Loop London & Marks & Spencer;
– JD Wetherspoon;
– The Co-operative Group.

Best Partnership Project for Recycling:
– Carrick District Council;
– Norfolk County Council;
– Traid;
– Wincanton, Comet and Remploy

and

Best Community Project for Recycling:
– HMYOI Hindley Wigan and Leigh College of Learning & Skills;
– Newport Wastesavers;
– Tower Hamlets Co-operative Development Agency.
