New occupational standards issued for fundraisers

The UK Workforce Hub and the Institute of Fundraising have revised the improved the fundraising National Occupational Standards (NOS) first issued in 2003.
The new NOS include units on grant fundraising, corporate fundraising, major gifts and direct marketing, making it more ‘task specific’ than the first version. They apply to anyone who fundraises as part of their work, and those that manage fundraising, whether in a voluntary or paid capacity.
They are funded by the Sector Skills Development Agency (now the UK Commission for Employment and Skills) and cover the skills and the knowledge that fundraisers need to be able to do their job at a nationally recognised level of competence.
They can be downloaded from www.ukworkforcehub.org.uk/fnos08
