Better Ireland deadline extended
The closing date for the AIB Better Ireland Programme has been extended to the 7th March. Better Ireland has provided €10,000 for each of its 185 local branches to give to good causes.
The programme has been broadened to include even more children than before. As before the Programmes’ overall focus is to tackle social exclusion amongst children and this goal has now been further subdivided into five key ‘causes’. AIB hope to enhance the lives of children across Ireland by concentrating on 5 issues that affect children:
– Physical / Sensory disabilities
– Intellectual / General learning disabilities
– Drug /Alcohol abuse
– A lack of access to mainstream education due to poverty
– Homelessness
The new Programme will also be administered in very different way than before. After an initial application process a cash award of €10,000 will be made to a local children’s group by each of the 185 participating branches across the country. The public will have the final say as to which group gets the money by means of a public text vote.
