New lottery TV game to benefit charities

Sweden-based BingoLotto, which generates around £100 million a year for Swedish charities, is to launch in the UK next month, with the beneficiaries being the Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR), the representative body for national sports organisations in the UK, and members of NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations).
BingoLotto Gamecards go on sale across the country from 15 February 2008, and will be available from retail stores nationwide through a network of over 10,000 retail outlets. At least 20% from the sale of each £2 BingoLotto lottery gamecard will go to a variety of UK good causes and charities. BingoLotto say that their gamecards offer “odds of 1 in 9.5”.
The TV game will debut on Friday 29 February between 7pm and 8pm, and will be simulcast on Virgin1 (Freeview Channel 20, Sky Channel 153 and Virgin Media Channel 122) and Challenge. It will be presented by comedian Joe Pasquale and singer and former Hear’ Say member and Dancing on Ice competitor, Suzanne Shaw.
Over the last 15 years £1.5 billion BingoLotto Gamecards have been sold, providing around £1 billion to charities in Sweden.
BingoLotto “is designed for all-round family fun”, although players must be aged 16 or over. The TV game will consist of a mixture of bingo lottery and prize draws, including interactive challenges for viewers at home.
Gert Eklund, creator of BingoLotto said: “The game has been such a huge success in Sweden, even more popular than the country’s national lottery. It is the highest rating show in Scandinavian history, giving around £100 million to good causes each year, and we hope to have the same success here in the UK”.
