Howard Lake | 18 January 2008 | News

Hilton Hotels has raised £226,000 from its Hilton in the Community Foundation Ball, held in the London Hilton on Park Lane ballroom in October 2007. Half of the proceeds, £113,287.14, have been donated to Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK. The remaining money will be given out throughout the year to charities working with people under the age of 25 who apply for funding to Hilton in the Community
‘King of the Jungle’ celebrity Christopher Biggins was the auctioneer for the evening, helping to raise £55,000 from eight star prizes, including a chance to bid for a Julien Macdonald dress, a signed cricket bat presented by Farouk Engineer and a chance to go to LA and Hawaii to attend the Grammys.
Hilton in the Community Foundation was founded in 2001 as Hilton International’s charity dedicated to supporting young people worldwide in the communities that Hilton International serves. Focused on education and health, grants supporting disadvantaged young people are made in the UK and Ireland. In the event of international disaster grants are made to relief organisations at the Trustees’ discretion.
