Irish Hospice launches 'Lifestory'

Howard Lake | 9 October 2007 | News

The Irish Hospice Foundation has launched the latest in a series of books designed to raise money for the organisation. ‘LifeStory’ is a hardback book in its own slipcase which provides a template to encourage people to write their own life stories and retails for ‚€40.

The book is divided into sections, e.g. Family Story, Early Years, Growing Up, Leaving, Friends, Work, Turning Points, Dreams and Lists (favourite books, music, etc.), conceived to help people capture key moments in their lives. With lots of blank space in which to write your story, LifeStory also features a series of ‘prompts’ in the form of memory-jogging questions at the start of each section.

Also included are many ‘first lines’ and passages from a wide range of published memoirs, diaries and journals from Irish and international writers. Among those featured are Bill Clinton, John McGahern, Bob Geldof, Anne Frank, the Dalai Lama, Gay Byrne, Hugo Hamilton, Barry Norman, Jane Fonda, John Major, Jung Chang, Helen Keller, Christopher Reeves, Chris Patten, Fiona Looney, Roddy Doyle, Gloria Hunniford and Bob Dylan.
