Charity-specialist printer achieves two green certifications

Howard Lake | 4 August 2007 | News

Blackmore, a printer specialising in the charity sector, has been awarded two major certifications (FSC and PEFC) which recognise its commitment to greener printing practices. Only 70 other printers in the UK have received these certifications.

The two environmental certifications are the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). To achieve them Blackmore has met strict criteria such as ensuring paper has come from a forest which is well managed according to environmental, social and economical standards.

The FSC certification, which can be printed on products specified on certified materials, confirms that the paper has been tracked from the forest through to the end product, known as the chain of custody. It has become one of the most recognisable sustainable forestry logo with consumers due to its backing by environmental organisations including Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and World Wildlife Fund and used by many major companies.

The PEFC award certifies timber and paper products come from responsibly managed forests.
