Local Abbey branch nomination secures £2,500 for Diabetes UK

Abbey Charitable Trust has donated £2,500 to Diabetes UK to fund activity and education holidays for children with diabetes.

The nomination for the donation came from Abbey’s branch in Wanstead to mark the 150th anniversary celebrations of Santander Bank, the Spanish bank that Abbey is part of.

Dee Watson, who works at Abbey in Wanstead, said: Diabetes is a cause very close to my heart. My mother died from kidney disease, which was a complication of her Type 2 diabetes. I nominated Diabetes UK for this grant because I want young people to learn how to manage their diabetes to help them reduce the risk of complications as early as possible.
