BEN appoints new Director of Fundraising & Communications

Charles Davis has joined BEN as Director of Fundraising and Communications, with responsibility for developing and implementing a fundraising and marketing strategy for the automotive industry charity.

Davis joins BEN from RoSPA where he has been Head of Driver & Fleet Solutions for the past five years, and where he has contributed significantly to a year-on-year growth in turnover of 25% on a £2.3 million budget culminating in a 2006 business growth of 45%.

Davis is passionate about road safety and training and is an active member of the a number of professional bodies and associations active in this area including The Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers (AIRSO).

Davis said: “One of the first things I plan to do is generate additional funding from an automotive industry which remains unsure what an important role BEN plays. To do this effectively we will need to plan an awareness campaign directed at both our existing supporters and also to those companies who still need to understand how BEN can help staff within the automotive industry.”

He added: “In order to change this, we must broaden our donor base across all sectors and this involves corporate donations and donations through payroll giving.”

Around 800,000 people work in the automotive business in Britain, yet only a very small percentage currently commit to making regular donations to BEN.
