The inaugural Social Change Awards from the Directory of Social Change are now accepting votes. They aim to recognise and value the people, organisations and companies bringing about social change in society.

The awards are open to individuals, companies, NGOs and public bodies and the winners are decided by charity sector professionals and the general public.

There are four categories:

* Public Body Award

A DSC judging has produced a shortlist of three applicants in each category and the public can now vote for the winners. “This was the best way we could think of to make them impartial and inclusive” explained the DSC.

DSC say that more than 1,300 votes were cast in the first 24 hours of the site going live.

Voting closes on 23 May 2007 and the winners will be announced on 6 June at Charityfair 2007 at Central Hall Westminster, London.
