John Low, the current Chief Executive of RNID, is to be the new Chief Executive of Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). He will take up his post on 1 August 2007.

As well as chief executive of a major charity, Low is also the Chair of the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO). A Chartered Engineer, he has a PhD in Bio-Medical Physics specialising in speech and auditory feedback. He spent 20 years in the technological industry, serving both western and developing markets, before moving to the voluntary sector.

CAF’s chair, Simon Cairns, who headed the selection panel, said: “John comes to CAF with a strong background and track record of delivery. My colleagues and I have every confidence he will lead CAF in achieving further milestones in the contribution that the Foundation has made and continues to make to donors and charities across the UK and internationally.”
