Hans Wolters, who joined the Resource Alliance in November, has stepped down as its CEO for ‘personal reasons’.
Deputy CEO Neelam Makhijani will be acting CEO for the time being, and certainly until the RA’s international board meets in the middle of this month. The Executive Committee will then make formal recommendations for the RA’s management structure and it is expected that a decision will be made at that time on how to move forward.
Co-chair of the Resource Alliance, Jan Krol said: “It is unfortunate and with sadness that we say goodbye to Hans and he leaves us with our best wishes. RA, with its committed team and board, is ready to move ahead and live up to the expectations of all its stakeholders with seamless continuity of the great work underway within our growth and expansion programmes. We have every confidence in Neelam as she steps up to the role of CEO and we are delighted that she has responded so positively.”
Makhijani said: “I am both proud and honoured to be asked to step in. The RA’s vision is truly inspirational for me. It is a unique organisation meeting needs in many niches. We are able to make a real and powerful impact on fundraising capacity around the world.”
