Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres has appointed Stephen George as Revenue Fundraising Director and Glen Fendley as Capital Fundraising Director.
Maggie’s Chief Executive Laura Lee said: “This is a unique structure for a unique opportunity at a unique time, and both Stephen and Glen are looking forward to the exciting challenge ahead. I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to recruit such talented and respected people to take on these positions. With six Maggie’s Centre now open and seven more Centres being built over the next two years, it will be vital to have Glen and Stephen’s wealth of knowledge and experience at Maggie’s.”
Stephen George has over 25 years of fundraising experience, working for Scope, Unicef, and NSPCC, where he was Development Director for Legacy Fundraising. At Maggie’s he will continue in his role of Chair at Remember a Charity, the consortium of 140 charities promoting legacies.
George, who blogs on UK Fundraising, said: “Maggie’s… is moving from being a small, innovative, charity that punches above its’ weight, to one with national ambitions and reach. This is an exciting moment in their development, and it will be a joy to bring my experience of working with some of the UK’s largest and most respected charities, to help Maggie’s achieve their aims to positively transform the experience of people affected by cancer across the UK”.
Glen Fendley has over 15 years’ experience working in diverse not-for-profit environments, and specialises in achieving challenging income targets in major gifts. He helped develop the Institute of Fundraising’s Major Gift Fundraising Code of Practice.
“Everything about Maggie’s is innovative”, he said. “I am looking forward to building on the excellent fundraising foundations that are already in place to develop a major capital fundraising programme that befits the ambitions and brand of Maggie’s”. He added that he was looking forward to working alongside Stephen George again.
