CAF adds links on news releases to social media sites

Howard Lake | 13 February 2007 | News

Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) has started to add links to social media websites such as del.icio.us and digg to its web-based news releases, with the aim of getting readers to publicise the releases even further.

The news release web pages now include three links to del.icio.us, digg.com and reddit.com. CAF is encouraging readers to add links to their news releases on these popular social media sites and thereby increase the readership of the content.

Many charities have been slow to exploit the opportunities of free publicity and higher website traffic offered by the free social media sites. Interestingly, CAF have added these social media links only to their news releases. They don’t appear on other pages of their site which could probably benefit from them such as their events and research publications pages. Indeed, there is nothing stopping the charity from adding these links to each of their sites web pages.
