RAF Benevolent Fund achieves 14% response in supporter mailing

The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund has sent its first mailing to supporters for several years and achieved a 14% response rate, raising over £64,000 so far.

After a long period of carrying out relatively little fundraising, the charity recently appointed marketing and communications agency Burnett Works to help it with donor recruitment and development activity.

The first project was a Christmas mailing pack which was developed to target all active, inactive and lapsed supporters, thanking them for their past support and apologising for the long silence.

The pack outlined four case studies, each showing a different beneficiary of the Fund, from a young family to a 100 year-old World War II veteran. It also gently encouraged readers to make a Christmas cash gift and gave them the opportunity to send a Christmas message of support to serving RAF personnel.
