Dublin Port Tunnel attracts 9000 runners
More than 9,000 people will run for charity through the new Dublin Port Tunnel before it opens to traffic next month. The 10km run has attracted participants from a wide range of charities, with the remaining 1,000 places expected to be filled before the deadline.
The run, which will take place on December 10th, will be launched by the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern. As well as raising money for other charities, the event will raise about ‚€50,000 for the lord mayor’s charity fund, derived from a portion of the ‚€25 entry fee.
The tunnel cost ‚€750 million and is one of the longest urban tunnels in Europe. The tunnel will be open to traffic on December 20th.
