KPMG UK staff choose Help the Hospices as charity of the year

Howard Lake | 24 October 2006 | News

Staff at professional services provider KPMG UK have voted for Help the Hospices as the company’s new charity partner. The two organisations are hoping to generate £400,000 for Help the Hospices and local hospices throughout the UK through the year-long relationship, which has been named ‘KPMG Caring for Communities: Help Your Local Hospice’.

The partnership, which began on 1 October 2006, will include both national and local campaigns, with each of KPMG’s 22 offices throughout the UK being twinned with hospices in their area for local fundraising and volunteering activities.

One of the goals of the partnership is to raise £100,000 through payroll giving. KPMG will then match-fund employee contributions up to a total value of £100,000.

Other activities will include team challenges and treks, national fundraising months, sporting events and pro bono work for Help the Hospices and local hospices.

Mike Kelly, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at KPMG, said: “The amount we have raised in previous charity partnerships has increased year on year, which is why we’ve set ourselves quite a sizeable target this year.”

Four other charities joined Help the Hospices on the final shortlist.
