Duchess of Cornwall becomes Patron of Emmaus
HRH the Duchess of Cornwall has become Royal Patron for the homelessness charity Emmaus in the UK.
Emmaus offers homeless men and women a home and work within a supportive community environment. Residents sign off unemployment benefits and work full-time at the business of the Community, collecting, refurbishing and selling donated furniture and household goods. Each Community aims to be financially self-sufficient through this work.
Terry Waite, President of Emmaus in the UK said today: “We are so pleased to be able to welcome The Duchess of Cornwall into the family of Emmaus. Her contribution will be of tremendous benefit to this charity which is working so creatively with homeless people.”
