New fund for community groups in Cambridge City

Howard Lake | 25 August 2006 | News

The ‘Love Cambridge Shopping’ partnership has created a new fund to provide grants to community groups within Cambridge City.

The new fund is offering Cambridge-based groups grants of up to £250. To be eligible, the group should comprise mainly volunteers working for the benefit of their local community, and the funding must be for a specific project.

Graham Thompson, spokesperson for Love Cambridge Shopping, and development manager for Land Securities said: “The fund is our way of thanking Cambridge for bearing with us while the works on the new city centre shopping takes place.

“There are a number of projects that could be funded; new equipment or resources, outings, an event, promotional material, training for volunteers are a few examples. The community groups of Cambridge make a significant contribution to the people of the City and we want to make it easier for them to provide their vital services and projects.”
