John Tate, a leading expert in ICT in the charity sector, has been appointed special IT Advisor to the Charity Finance Directors’ Group (CFDG).

John will work as an external advisor with CFDG members and staff to develop the strategic use of ICT across the charity sector.

Shirley Scott, the Chief Executive of CFDG said: “Information and Communications Technology is essential if charities are to function and report on their activities more efficiently. Financial and fundraising software, Web site development and management information systems cost a lot to manage and are a major capital investment.

“In over 80% of Charities the responsibility for ICT lies within the Finance Directorate so it is an area of great interest to members of CFDG and will continue to be an important part of their training and information function. We welcome John as an external advisor to our organisation”

John commented: “The CFDG is the natural body to represent IT among Not for Profit organisations and I welcome the opportunity to work even more closely with them in the future.”
