IFI gets renewed US funding
The International Fund for Ireland has received another allocation of funding from the US government. $10.4 million has been voted for the IFI, which supports a range of projects throughout Ireland in the reconciliation field, by the Appropriations Committee of the House of Representatives.
IFI chairman Denis Rooney described the announcement as “extremely good news.”
“This recommendation is a real vote of confidence in the young people and communities which benefit from the programmes of the International Fund,” Mr Rooney said.

The IFI recently changed its focus to support more reconciliation work and disadvantaged communities. The IFI was set up in the mid-eighties after the Anglo Irish Agreement and recently came in for criticism as wasteful by a US watchdog body.
