Trust's name misused in spam email

Howard Lake | 18 May 2006 | News

The Peter Harrison Foundation is warning charities that a spoof email is circulating using the grantmaker’s name and offering organisations a grant of US$2.5million.

The spam email does not, however, use the foundation’s correct email address, and instead uses “pe**********************@ya***.com”. That should be enough to warn any recipients that the sender is not genuine, but nevertheless the foundation is advising recipients to ignore the message if they receive it.

It will shortly publish a warning on its website to this effect. Meanwhile, if anyone can shed any light on the spam’s provenance they are encouraged to contact Maria Ersser.
