eTapesty launches mobile-accessible donor database

eTapesty has launched a version of its Web-based fundraising database that can be accessed via mobile phone.

eTapestry Mobile was launched yesterday in Atlanta at the Association of Fundraising Professionals International Conference on Fundraising. eTapestry, which offers its donor database tools to nonprofits remotely rather than loading them on to their PC networks, claimed that it is the “first mobile-compatible site for donor databases.”

Now eTapestry clients can access their donor databases via the Web for their Web-enabled cell phones. They can access and update account information, search accounts and retrieve query results.

While Web-enabled phones can access most Web sites, high-resolution graphics and lower phone bandwidths make it difficult for visitors to navigate, unless the sites are formatted especially for mobile devices.

eTapestry Mobile formats information for a small resolution screen. It is compatible across a “wide range of mobile devices”, including PDAs, smart phones and WAP-enabled phone browsers, which support XHTML content.

“It’s the next logical step for eTapestry, which has the goal of freeing nonprofits from the office environment and their network,” said eTapestry Chief Operating Officer Steve Rusche. “Fundraisers actively involved in donor relationship-building spend time on the road in face-to-face meetings, but still need that office connectivity.”
