Oxfam has launched a new style of charity shop in central London, focusing on top of the range menswear clothing. According to Third Sector the shop took a remarkable £3,000 on its first day of trading last weekend.

The shop at 71 New Bond Street is intentionally designed not to look like a traditional charity shop. Its racks include items from Versace, Dior Homme, Prada and Diesel. Neighbouring shops include Its Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein.

All items on sale have been stockpiled from donations made to all of Oxfam’s London stores over the last six months.

The shop is another of Oxfam’s efforts to provide niche shops to counter changing market conditions, in this case the rise of discount retailers like Primark and Matalan. Oxfam’s new trading developments have included the first Oxfam bookshop in Oxford in 1988, and an Oxfam designer shop in London’s Covent Garden.

The lease for this new shop lasts for 18 months and has been donated anonymously.
