“I’m delighted that Russell will take over as Chair of the Board. He has the right balance of people skills, a huge knowledge of the sector in general and many years experience as a senior fundraiser. His network will stand him in very good stead.

Russell will be able to build on the great success of the National Convention in London – reflecting the needs of fundraisers from all size of charity whether large or small. The Convention is doing very well but always benefits from a sense of ‘newness’ and innovation.”

Russell Thompson, Director of National Events and Fundraising at The Royal British Legion and Chair Designate of the Institute’s Convention Board says:

“I am honoured to be asked to take on this role. The National Convention has been key to my own personal development over the years and I hope that I can make a significant contribution to encourage the future generation of fundraisers.”
