Using eBay to sell unwanted Christmas gifts

Howard Lake | 13 December 2005 | News

The Rainforest Foundation is making use of the new eBay for Charities service by encouraging its supporters to consider selling any unwanted Christmas gifts they receive and donating the proceeds to the charity.

The Rainforest Foundation has spotted that the post-Christmas period offers a new source of income online via the recently launched eBay for Charity service.

While charities have in the past encouraged supporters to donate unwanted Christmas presents via charity shops, the new online service from eBay and MissionFish makes it even easier to sell unwanted gifts to raise funds for charity.

Writing in the Winter edition of their email newsletter, The Rainforest Foundation includes a short item entitled “Unwanted Gifts?” It suggests: “Auction them on ebay for charity and donate a percentage to the Rainforest Foundation. All you have to do is register as a seller at www.ebay.co.uk. Click to donate to charity and select the Rainforest Foundation from the list.”

The post-Christmas season could therefore prove a valuable time for all those charities using the eBay for Charity service.
