ClickNow signs up Institute of Fundraising

ClickNow, the search engine that donates a proportion of its revenue to charities, has signed up its 70th partner, the Institute of Fundraising.

Click Now receives money for each search conducted on its search engine, operated in partnership with Ask Jeeves. Charities that persuade their supporters to search on the site will earn a proportion of the income from these searches.

Since its launch in June 2005, ClickNow has signed up 62 charities and 9 corporate partners. As well as the Institute of Fundraising, new members joining include Debra, Devon Wildlife Trust, The Terrence Higgins Trust, Schroders and OCS.

There is no single search engine page for ClickNow. Instead, it creates a dedicated co-branded search page for each of its charity and corporate partners which they link through to from their site or emails. In this way, the number of searches each charity generates can be tracked easily, and supporters can be certain which charity they are supporting. On the other hand, the ClickNow brand is not emphasised as much as it could.

ClickNow admits that it “cannot invest in huge marketing budgets” at this stage so “that is why we are counting on you – our most loyal supporters – to help to spread the word about ClickNow.”

The company is also expanding its online service to offer more ways of generating income through affiliate deals. It is in the process of completing negotiations with an insurance offer similar to its telecom and holiday packages, where all insurance policies booked through ClickNow will generate a donation to the individual supporter’s nominated charity.
