RNLI uses SMS competition to fundraise during summer season
A new interactive SMS competition, giving visitors to the seaside the chance to win a Beach Beat surfboard, is being launched by the RNLI to boost fundraising on the beaches.
A special promotional car sticker will be available from all RNLI beach lifeguard patrolled beaches. The special stickers will encourage beach goers to participate in the competition by texting the word BEACH to a special SMS line.
The new initiative – based on a successful pilot scheme in 2004 – will be introduced on a larger scale throughout the 59 RNLI lifeguard patrolled beaches in the South of England, in advance of the summer break.

SMS lines will be open from 23 June to 19 September 2005, the winner will be advised on 3 October 2005.
