Coin collection scheme Pennies from Heaven has appointed Kate Frost as Business Development Director.

Kate joins the company from Barclays where she has taken a 12-month sabbatical from her role as Associate Strategy Director. Since joining Barclays in 1997, Kate has played a key role in developing business and communications strategies across Barclays Retail Banking Business.

Now in its fifth year Pennies from Heaven has recruited many large UK companies into the scheme, including Aviva, Barclays, Morgan Stanley and the Virgin Group. To date the company has raised over £500,000 for a variety of charities through simply rounding down salaries to the nearest pound and donating the spare pennies (with Gift Aid) to charity.

Kate said: “Pennies from Heaven have the experience to update payroll systems quickly, at little cost, and our marketing expertise has helped companies benefit from up to 60% of their staff signing up.

“I want to increase the number of companies offering Pennies from Heaven to their workforce as well as expanding the scheme to other areas where the public can donate loose change – this will be worth millions of pounds to the charity sector year on year.”

Anthony Law, Managing Director of Pennies from Heaven, added: “Kate will not only be helping us grow our payroll giving scheme but also developing new propositions to enable consumers to donate their spare pennies at point of sale. We are aiming to link up with major UK retailers and are confident this innovative scheme will help companies build customer loyalty, enhance their reputation and generate good will among stakeholders.”
