The cost of runners packages for the 2005 Great North Run, a popular fundraising event, have risen by 50% in a year, according to Third Sector magazine.

Third Sector reports that “charities are now being charged £3,750 for 75 runners’ places, compared with £2,500 last year.”

As such, some charities, including large national organisations, are reviewing whether to continue to take part in the event.
