Currencies Direct offers foreign exchange at cost to tsunami charities

Howard Lake | 10 January 2005 | News

Commercial foreign exchange service Currencies Direct has announced a special not-for-profit service to charities transferring money to projects in countries affected by the tsunami and earthquake.

Currencies Direct has offered to carry out all foreign exchange during January for qualifying charities at cost, as well as waiving the usual transfer fee, regardless of the amount that is being sent. In this way, money donated in pounds sterling can be transferred to foreign currencies to pay for relief work and other supplies in the area without transaction fees eating into the total amount.

In addition to their not-for-profit service for charities, Currencies Direct will also donate £5 to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) for every transfer made by their customers in January 2005.
