Lloyds TSB Foundations pass £200 million in grants milestone

The Lloyds TSB Foundations are celebrating giving over £200 million in grants to charities since 1987.
The four independent Lloyds TSB Foundations, which include England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, are amongst the largest grant-making trusts in the UK and support charities that help disadvantaged and disabled people to play a fuller role in the community.
With a mission to help small grass-roots charities, the Foundation targets its funding to social and community needs, and education and training. Working with small community-based charities means that relatively small sums can make a huge difference and in 2003 the average regional grant was £5,760 (£14,720 at an England and Wales-wide level). The Foundation also believes it is vital to support day-to-day running costs to ensure charities’ short-term survival and long-term sustainability and in 2003, 65% of grants by value were for core costs.

Kathleen Duncan, Director General for the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales commented: “We are delighted to have been able to help over 30,000 charities since 1987 and are particularly pleased that a significant number of charities have been able to use our grant to lever additional essential funding.”
