Company of the Year winner cuts back on community programme
According to The Guardian Marks & Spencer is cutting back its community programme, including staff secondments to charities and the 10% top-up on staff donations to charities.
Only two weeks ago, as reported by UK Fundraising, Marks & Spencer won the award for Company of the Year in the Business in the Community awards.
The company itself denies that it is reducing its commitment to corporate social responsibility. A spokeswoman told The Guardian that the company was consolidating its activities, that it would remain a member of the 1% Club, and that some of the activities being closed were being replaced by other new activities.
