ChildLine announces its first ChildLine Day for 15 October

Howard Lake | 18 June 2004 | News

Children’s charity ChildLine will celebrate its 18th anniversary on 15 October 2004, a date it has now named ChildLine Day.

The centrepiece of ChildLine Day will be an attempt by hundreds of thousands of children across the country to break the world record for simultaneous singing. ChildLine’s chosen song will be appropriately “Happy Birthday”.

The charity is suggesting that everyone who takes part in its Happy Birthday song make an donation of £1.

Every school taking part will receive a special certificate, and if they register before 23 September each school will be entered into a free prize draw to win one of ten cookers or fridges donated by Hotpoint. The electrical retailer is sponsors of the world record attempt and other birthday activities taking place during ChildLine’s ‘Safely to 18’ campaign, an awareness and fundraising campaign to mark the charity’s 18th birthday.
