Farewell Internet Magazine

After nearly 10 years Internet Magazine, has ceased publication. Given UK Fundraising’s early bias towards covering online fundraising, we salute the magazine that gave us ideas and kept us informed.

Internet Magazine was launched in 1994, the same year as UK Fundraising. While charity Web sites are now a standard feature of the voluntary sector, in those days it was difficult to find anyone in the charity sector who had heard of the Web, let alone used it for their work, or envisaged how they might make use of it to enhance their fundraising.

So, we read each issue of Internet magazine avidly, following developments in the business and consumer online worlds. Those were the days when this site was entirely hand-coded in HTML, by the way – it was that long ago. The journalists covered what we needed to know, and after a while featured a regular drip feed of news items about various charities’ uses of the Internet. UK Fundraising itself was featured several times in the magazine.
