Howard Lake in "50 most influential people in fundraising"

Howard Lake | 15 May 2004 | News

Thank you to Professional Fundraising magazine’s readers for including UK Fundraising’s publisher Howard Lake in their “50 most influential people in fundraising” for 2003.

Professional Fundraising magazine is once again asking its readers to nominate the person with the greatest influence on fundraising over the next 12 months. Last year it was Gordon Brown. In its current issue it has listed last year’s top 50 to help stimulate votes and nominations.

UK Fundraising’s Howard Lake was included with the likes of Lindsey Boswell, Amanda Delew, Kevin Cahill, Tessa Jowell, and Luke Fitzherbert. That’s lovely because it means, we assume, that the UK Fundraising Web site gets used and noticed. On the other hand, we’ve never claimed to represent anyone but ourselves, unlike the true membership bodies such as the Institute of Fundraising. Perhaps that simply means that we’ve got to exercise our supposed influence with even greater care.

To temper any egos that might get too inflated by their appearance in the top 50 list, Professional Fundraising is threatening to name “the most dangerous person in fundraising” as well, based on readers’ votes.
