Cats Protection secures £1 million legacy property in court
Cats Protection has taken legal action to evict a squatter from a London home that was bequeathed to the charity in 1996.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Cats Protection was bequeathed the five-bedroom house in Barnes, London, in the 1996 will of the late Lady Follett. The house has been occupied by Ian Simpson, her handyman, who argued that he was looking after her four cats at the property to respect her wishes.
The charity last week secured a possession order at Wandsworth county court.

The lengthy process to acquire the charity’s property which in this case has concluded in legal action is just one of many examples of the legal expertise and determination that charities can require when ensuring that they receive their lawful bequests in full.
