Looney Tunes pin badges raise funds for RNID
Pin badges featuring the Looney Tunes characters will soon be available in Tesco stores across the country and branches of high-street bank Barclays as part of a fundraising drive for the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID).
The badges, featuring Sylvester, Tweety Pie, Taz and Wile E. Coyote holding different musical instruments, will be available throughout February and March from Tesco stores and branches of Barclays for a suggested donation of £1. The money raised by the pin badge counter appeal will go directly to RNID to help support various projects and services that benefit the one in seven people in the UK that have some form of hearing loss.
The badges come with an educational message. The accompanying backing cards contain valuable advice about how to protect your hearing from over-exposure to loud music. In addition, the backing cards also encourage consumers to log onto RNID’s Don’t Lose the Music campaign Web site for more information about how to prevent noise induced hearing loss.

The pin badge campaign follows the release of a new Looney Tunes film, “Looney Tunes, Back in Action”, starring Steve Martin, Jenna Elfman and Brendan Fraser which will be released in cinemas on 13 February 2004.
RNID launched its Don’t Lose the Music campaign in May 2003, following the publication of research which showed that an alarming number of young people are experiencing the warning signs of permanent hearing damage ie ringing in the ears and/or dullness of hearing, following nights out at clubs, concerts and gigs.
