Radio show to ask 'are charities too aggressive?'

The Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2 will next week discuss aggressive tactics by charities, and the Institute of Fundraising is encouraging members to call in and put their side of the argument.

The Institute of Fundraising has alerted members to a high profile radio programme next week asking the question “Are charities too aggressive?” Since it will focus on campaigning and fundraising, The Institute has managed to ensure it is part of the debate.

CEO Lindsay Boswell is encouraging Institute members to participate in the programme by ringing in and encouraging supporters to ring in too.

In addition he is asking members which points and arguments they would put if placed on live national radio. He wishes to hear from from small and large charities “as examples illustrate much better than dry statistics.”

According to the Institute, The Jeremy Vine Show on Radio 2 is the biggest, most listened to national daytime show. The charities issue will be debated during the show on 1 October 2003 in the first half hour, from 13.00-13.30.
